Pro Pilot Date

Pro Pilot Date

It’s back. Redesigned. Re-energised. And better than ever. Meet the new ProPilot Date, an aviation watch created for everyday adventures

SIMPLE PLEASURES

Not everything in life has to be complicated. Meet the new ProPilot Date, a handsome, fit-for-purpose mechanical watch designed for everyday adventures.

At Dubai Watch Week 2025, we’re delighted to introduce the new and improved ProPilot Date. It’s an evolution of a much-loved model that we’ve redesigned and upscaled to deliver uncompromising, ultra - dependable everyday performance wearers will never have to think about. Sometimes, simple is best. Behind the new watch is a story of innovation and purpose. Our first pure aviation watch was the Big Crown Pointer Date of 1938, a designthat’s been in the Oris collection ever since. It’s our icon and has proved again and again that it’s a timeless classic and one of the Swiss watch industry’s most enduring forms.

The genesis of that watch was the dawn of aviation, as pilots taking to the skies came to us asking for  instruments they could use in flight. That’s why, for example, it has an oversized crown and large-scale Arabic numerals: legibility and usability to the fore.

The ProPilot is our contemporary take on that design. The crown and dial display remain, but it has a more aggressive, dynamic profile targeting aviation professionals. Take the bezel fluting: it’s angled to echo modern jet engine turbines.

Now, we’ve given it a fresh tweak, with sophisticated, refined detailing that will make professionals and everyday adventurers smile.

And really, that’s about it. Complicated? No. If only everything in life was as joyfully simple.

IT TAKES A TEAM (AND A VILLAGE)

We’re proud to be part of the Coulson Aviation community and to support its life-saving aerial firefighting mission.

We first partnered with Coulson Aviation in 2022. Three years on, we’re proud to continue growing our association with the pioneering aerial firefighting company, and delighted to spotlight its incredible community of dedicated, highly skilled professionals once more. Coulson Aviation is part of a family-owned group founded in 1960 that first specialised in logging. The group has headquarters in Australia, Canada and the United States and has evolved into a multi-disciplinary conglomerate, known for innovation and excellence. Its vision is powered up by a passionate international community united around common goals.

In the case of Coulson Aviation, the goal is to combat the devastating effects of forest fires that claim lives and destroy homes, communities and livelihoods.

At the heart of Coulson’s mission are a group of brave pilots who fly aircraft and helicopters – the fleet includes Boeing 737 and Lockheed C-130 Hercules planes and Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters – into areas affected by forest fires. It’s vital but high-risk work, and it’s made possible by a huge team of experts who come together to develop technologies that make its work safer and more effective. Coulson Aviation has now logged more than 200,000 flight hours.

It’s this community spirit and ability to work as a team in the pursuit of a greater good that first drew us to Coulson. At Oris, we share that vision: only with a different product. We make beautiful mechanical watches intended to serve a purpose and to bring joy. And to do that, we too rely on a passionate global community, whose roots extend from our Swiss home in the village of Hölstein into every corner of the world.

This community and sense of connection are essential if we are to bring positive change. This is why it’s a great joy to call Wayne and Britton Coulson our friends and to partner in their life-saving mission.

TIME FOR A NEW ADVENTURE

The new ProPilot Date has a redesigned case, updated detailing and a few hidden secrets that make it the perfect watch for everyday adventures

How do you make a great watch better? The ProPilot has become a staple of the Oris collection since it was introduced in 2014 as a watch for professionals. It’s been a natural home for some of our most celebrated innovations: think of the groundbreaking ProPilot Altimeter and the world’s first watches with carbon fibre cases produced using a highly efficient additive moulding process. Today, the ProPilot is one of our signatures, always delivering high performance and innovation.

So how do you make a best-in - show watch better? This was the challenge our design and engineering teams took on, and now we’re delighted to introduce the handsome new ProPilot Date, the first in a new generation of aviation-themed watches designed for life’s everyday adventures.

Its 41.00 mm case is subtly evolved from the original, with tauter, sharper visual lines that give the ProPilot a more dynamic silhouette. Satin and polished finishes elevate the look further still, while the design’s tell-tale angled bezel fluting remains in place, maintaining the connection to contemporary jet-engined aircraft.

As important are the watch’s ergonomics. The new case wraps around the wrist with extreme comfort, held in place by either a new metal bracelet or suede leather strap. We’ve also updated the oversized crown, another core element in the ProPilot design, so that it delivers improved usability.

The dial has been updated, too. Now, the ProPilot has a textured dial (in either black, chalk or moss) echoing natural materials found in nature, a new dial ring design, and gently reworked applied and brushed Arabic numerals. The lume- tipped hands have been redesigned, as well, all in the service of legibility, balance and beauty.

One final visual update: the ProPilot’s famous ‘LIFT’ clasp is now edged and chamfered to reflect the new case design. The suede leather strap versions come with a built-in seamless fit adjustment system, whereby the strap has no holes and can be adjusted to a perfect fit, as well as the new clasp.
Combined, these updates deliver significant improvements to the ProPilot’s wearability and the user’s everyday experience. And that’s how you make a great watch better.
